The series has been absolutely brilliant and I have loved every bit of it but due to Martin's writing style I will be waiting a wee while for the next so in the meantime I would like to start another series. Not quite as good as Scar Night or Iron Angel but enjoyable nonetheless. I finally got around to reading them this year and just finished the last book last night. This series does a couple of really interesting things, but isn't the best I've ever seen. "Scar Night", and whole "The Deepgate Codex" trilogy by Alan Campbell has been in my wish-list for few years now, but somehow there was always something with higher priority. Alan Campbell's 'Deepgate Codex' has been a rather 'stop start' read so far, at least as far as I'm concerned. There was enough there for me to want to pick up the sequel, 'Iron Angel' and this is where things really kicked off. Overall, they were decent, although it took a while for them to pick up — Scar Night in particular is, in my opinion, very slow for the first half of the book, and Iron Angel was also slow for about the first hundred pages. Book review: "Scar Night" by Alan Campbell. Since I planned From reading blurbs and comments on Amazon, I knew that book took place in some unique setting and that included vampires and angels - not the usual characters in my favorite books. 'Scar Night' (which I read long before starting up the blog) married a brilliant visual concept to an evocative brooding atmosphere but fell down for me when not a lot seemed to actually happen. Some more Ladies Detective agency books (nearly up to date with these now) Just finished God of Clocks, (Clocks I said,) last of the Deepgate Codex trilogy.
